Do not ask for all formats together
First decide which difficulty you want to solve. Don’t understand the chapter structure? Are you missing the connections? Don’t remember a definition? The format follows the need. Producing dozens of cards before having read the materials can take up the time needed to understand them.
The summary is to guide you
Ask for a synthesis with main terms, conditions and exceptions, then compare it with the chapter. Keep the reference to the original paragraph nearby. Use the summary as a reading and reviewing path, not as an automatic substitute for the required materials. A short sentence must be explainable in more detail.
The map is to explain relationships
A useful map is not just a tree of words. Write on the connections what links the concepts: cause, difference, example, condition. You can have the AI propose a structure and correct it. When moving from text to drawing, check that causal relationships not supported by the source have not appeared.
Flashcards are for recall
Create circumscribed questions, with verifiable answers. Alternate definitions with comparisons and examples: not everything boils down to remembering a word. Try to answer before flipping the card. If you show both sides immediately, you are mostly rereading. Separate the wrong cards and review them after a break.
Choose based on the test
For an oral exam practise explanations and connections; for a written test do complete exercises, not just cards. Recall and distributed review are studied strategies, while a map generated does not become effective just because it is visually orderly. Rebuild it without looking to check it has meaning for you.
01 / A PRACTICAL CASE
Try it in your session.
To compare two authors first build a table with problem, concepts and differences. Then transform each difference into a question. The final map links the answers you have verified in the text.
02 / THE PROMPT TO ADAPT
From this excerpt create 6 flashcards: 2 on definitions, 2 on differences and 2 on applications. For each indicate question, answer and reference paragraph. Do not add external information. If the excerpt is not sufficient for an application, state it and ask for additional material. Avoid ambiguous questions or those with multiple indistinct answers.
03 / NOW, WITHOUT AI
The reasoning remains yours.
Reconstruct a map on a blank sheet and explain each connection orally. Then check what you omitted or connected wrongly.
